Digital Eye Strain

Whether it is for work, school, or entertainment purposes, today people of all ages are spending more and more hours a day looking at a digital screen. However, viewing a computer screen or any other device with a similar digital display requires your eyes to work much harder. Between screen contrast, flicker, glare, focusing the eyes at the same point for extended periods of time, as well as the eye adjustments required when moving from papers on the desk to looking back up at the screen, using a computer can be visually challenging.

If you notice any of the following symptoms, you might be experiencing eye strain.

  •  Eye Irritation (dry eyes, itchy eyes, red eyes)
  •  Increased Blinking
  •  Double Vision
  •  Blurred Vision
  •  Headaches
  •  Trouble Sleeping
  •  Neck, shoulder, or back pain

Digital eyestrain can be the result of poor posture while sitting, untreated vision problems, the amount of time using the device, insufficient lighting, inadequate viewing distances, glare on the devices’ screens, problems focusing, advancing age or a combination of the above. Adding a blue light filter to your glasses can help reduce this strain. In addition, some contact lenses now come with a blue light filter.

Eyezen glasses are digital lenses designed to reduce eye strain. They have a high quality anti-glare that filters out harmful blue light rays. They can also be prescribed for patients who do not need a distance prescription.
